A Trim Brim Beanie & Insect 'X'

I love this new beanie pattern! I offered to help Amanda of Pardon My Chaos blog to test out her new beanie pattern a few days ago and I enjoyed crocheting it(minus a few hiccups)! I finished it last night despite being busy with orders but I just had to make it! I took a few pics but they weren't great. So, off to the beach we went! It's a really cute beanie! A boy or a girl could wear it even adults! If you're interested in this pattern, click here. Her other patterns are great as well especially this one!
View from all sides(well, except from to the top and back which I forgot!)
While hanging up the laundry this morning, I saw this weird insect which looked like a small branch of leaves. It had lost one of it's leaves at the neck and was a bit wobbly. I'm not sure if it lived or not 'cos when I went to look for it again later this afternoon, it wasn't there anymore. Anybody knows the name of this insect?
I'll leave you with this pic of myself and Hazel. Just the back is the best I can do and all you'll get :)

I think the insect X is a type of praying mantis =)

The beanie is cute, especially on your daughter. Looks like something I'd enjoy making. Showed the insect photo to my husband and he agrees with MisFyd that it is probably a praying mantis.

Another lovely beanie! No idea what that insect is. Very unusual. x

Thanks, all! If you looked carefully it looks like a small branch of leaves. I think it is a species of the praying mantis but I've never seen this type before. It doesn't have the long front legs that praying mantis have.

@Angie, I live on Tioman Island, Johore, Malaysia. It is a loooong way from you! But anytime you decide to come for a holiday, do contact me!

Macam-macam pattern beanie dah kak Aisyah cuba.
Sebijik macam daun. :)
Hehhe... dapat tengok gambar belakang kak Aisyah pun dah ok. ^_^

Hey! I have the first 14 rows typed up. It's an intermediate pattern and will probably be difficult for beginner crocheters. Do you want to work/proof read it for me? I have been over and over it, but it's easy to miss something. It's very detailed, kind of a step by step, because each row is different. Let me know and I can email you what I have. The only thing I have left to do is work out the last few rows for trim then it will be done.
